Things to see and do
Callander is situated on the Banks of the river Teith at the base of the towering Callander Crags and offers an excellent base for visitors to Scotland.

The surrounding area can be explored by the many paths and trails, this can be done on foot, by car or for the more energetic on horse back or by bike.

Callander's very own mountain, Ben Ledi, is just over a mile away and in good weather most reasonably fit walkers can do the return trip from the car park to the 2840 ft summit in around 3 to 4 hours. From the summit, weather permitting, you can see the Forth Bridge to the east and the Isle of Arran on the firth of Clyde - the whole width of Scotland. Families can enjoy several local activities including a trip to our local Safari Park at Blairdrummond or a trip down memory lane to the Hamilton toy museum.
Callander also boasts an 18 hole golf course - and crazy golf at the meadows!
The Trossachs offers a visit to the Sir Walter Scott Steamer or a Visit to the Queen Elizabeth forest Centre and the Ospreys, a must if you are interested in natural history. The Red Kite Centre at Argaty near Doune is also a popular day out for bird watching enthusiasts

.
Stirling is 15 miles away and offers visits to Stirling Castle, the Stirling Old Town Jail and Argyll's Lodgings.

If you have the time to spare, the site of the Battle of Bannockburn is also well worth a visit, and the views from the top of the Wallace Monument are nothing short of spectacular on a clear day.
We think that whatever your interests, you will find something for you in and around Callander
